The only problem with science is scientists!
Introduction to Chapter 30:
PURE, UNADULTERATED SCIENCE IS A WONDERFUL FIELD OF RESEARCH. There are few things that reveal the wonders of God like physics. The scientist whose heart is a blank slate gazing into the window of the unknown will daily participate in an adventure that is unparalleled. He or she will see and grasp things known by few. This person allows “what is” to shape their thoughts and be instructed by God’s revelation in His creation. Of all people in the world who should be ardent worshippers of God, scientists deserve top of the list.

As believers we should never reject science. It has been this reaction to science that caused the Church to look controlling and ignorant. Science is not the problem; it is the misinterpretation of facts. Likewise, do not make the same mistakes made by many labeling information as evil because it came through a pagan culture. Nothing in creation is inherently evil. God is good and all He created is good. Religionists tend to observe the world through a “secular or sacred dichotomy,” then through a series of judgments determine good and evil based on their judgments. We all share pretty much the same information, so the question is not, “Who discovered it?” The question is “How do we understand it in light of God’s Word?”
Few believers have a sound enough understanding of the Word of God to look at the same information a scientist looks at and understand how that could be interpreted from a biblical perspective. Science can often do incredible research, but without a good comprehension of the Word of God neither they nor we can reach a healthy conclusion. God’s Word is the greatest history, science, sociology and psychology book ever written. But the way we read it closes our mind to the treasure it holds. If we have already accepted the world’s explanation of all things we are not looking for those answers in the Word of God. We remain blind because we insist that we see. I have spent the last 40 years studying science, medicine, psychology and the Bible. I have not changed my understanding of the Bible because of new scientific or medical discoveries, but many times I have changed my understanding of the “sciences” because of what I saw in the Word!
The Apostle Paul explained, “To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled” (Titus 1:5). At the end of the equation all we need to have good information, regardless of where it comes from, is to have a good enough knowledge of God’s Word to find the proper conclusion. Likewise, we need a pure heart, free from selfish agendas that yields to the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8), He may well have been echoing the fact that he who has a crooked, twisted, froward, or perverse heart cannot find good because they cannot find God.ii A pure heart can find the “God element” wherever it exists, but the religious, biased, prejudiced, bigoted, hardened, or unbelieving heart cannot find God and they cannot find the good.
Never fall for the deception that any part of creation is bad or evil. That is an indictment against God as Creator! We must always be aware that corrupt people will use what God has given for our benefit for some evil purpose. That does not, however, mean God’s creation was evil.
At the end of the process we who believe in God and see Him as Creator of all things worship Him. We are enamored with the creation only to the degree it reveals the glory and wisdom of the Creator. The key difference between a believer, Religionist or Atheist is we not only see God’s hand in all of creation; we give Him the glory for all of creation!
